Christmas came early for AM Films this year with a whistle stop tour of the Nation’s largest Christmas tree lighting ceremonies for Underwriters Laboratories. 2008 was a big year to get UL’s message of safety out to the nation. In a holiday marketing blitz, UL sponsored events, aired their new public service announcements with actress Keri Russell, conducted satellite media tours, held press conferences and sponsored holiday celebrations across the country. AM Films started production here in Chicago’s Daley Plaza then travelled on to the largest celebration in the nation at New York City’s Rockefeller Center, and finally went to Washington DC for the National Tree Lighting Ceremony where President George Bush and First Lady Laura Bush lit the National Christmas Tree in President’s Park across the Street from the White House on The Ellipse.
Adam Marton directed the 5-minute film shot about the journey entirely in High Definition . Marton comments, “The film is hosted by ABC’s Michelle Alegria who I cast because her delightful spirit brought a tremendously warm energy to the story.” He went on to say, “Along our journey we met so many people who blushed with the excitement of the season and the Christmas spirit. You could not have asked for more beautiful holiday locations than Daley Plaza, Rockefeller Center or President’s Park. They all provided incredible backdrops for wonderful footage.”
Marton said, “Our client wanted a film that would communicate the entirety of the nation-wide effort to people around the world. So our goal was to convey what UL is doing by telling a story that captured the essence of the holidays. Filming at the most noteworthy celebrations in the nation brought us a tremendous array of micro-stories to tell and we returned home with a ton of alternatives to choose from. This project was a fantastic way to put the year-end icing on the cake for AM Films.”
