Here is a film we are quite proud to have had the opportunity to craft. The Belize Tarpon Tagging Expedition is an effort in it’s 3rd year to enable scientific marine research in Central America. AM Film’s Adam Marton is pleased to be working with Dr. Jerry Ault from the University of Miami’s, Rosenstiel School of Marine & Atmospheric Science (http://www.rsmas.miami.edu/) and the master of tarpon Mr. Stu Apte to team up and lead the expedition.

The expedition is a rare opportunity for folks who dream of being a Marine Biologist for a day and playing a significant role in the effort to protect and understand global tarpon populations. The Belize Tarpon Tagging Expedition is a chance to actually help answer the “$64,000 Question” — Are our fish, their fish?
The team will be armed with the most technologically advanced PAT & SPOT satellite tags. The goal of the expedition is to land, tag and release adult tarpon that migrate annually to the world-renowned Long Key area. After tagged tarpon are successfully released, these efforts will enable scientists from the University of Miami, Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science to study global movements, habitat and behavior of the fish. This data will ultimately be used to assist fisheries managers, anglers and government officials from around the globe to make even more intelligent decisions about how to properly manage tarpon populations.
The entire expedition has been designed to enable research and increase participants understanding of tarpon for a lifetime. Part liquid laboratory, part seminar, part world class fishing trip. Anglers who secure a spot on the roster for this experiential education tarpon immersive will be participating in an amazing experience.
This is a completely unique opportunity to actively participate in the effort to advance science while learning first hand from the world’s expert on the subject of tarpon science and the living legend of the sport. Expedition dates are August 9-16 & 16-23, 2014.
The expedition will occur in August or 2014 and be hosted by the world famous, El Pescador Resort (www.elpescador.com).
